Infants Contracting Yeast Infection:
Babies with pink and soft skin also get yeast infection like adults. I came across a situation where a girl was infected with yeast infection in her armpit at the time when I was worked as a teacher for toddlers. She was taken to her paediatrician who gave some cream, after we informed her mother about this. I have seen this sort of infection in both male and female kids. It is very upsetting when kids who cannot speak are infected by such type of yeast infections.
Yeast Infection Affecting Urinary Organs:
Every time if you feel that your daughter is crying while urinating in her diapers, and has a couple of red colored rashes and inflammations near her urinary orifice, it is time for you to take her for a consultation to the pediatrician.
Yeast infection is also common about toddler boys and one such incident was where the boy had his foreskin was close to his penis. If such foreskin pulled back in boy children are not properly cleaned then there is a lot of probability in getting an infection of yeast. The boy whose foreskin was pulled back had an occurrence of yeast infection time and again who was twenty one months old, was again operated and the so said pulled foreskin was removed.
By this we should not understand that boys who are not circumcised will not get yeast infection. The parents should only teach basic hygiene and until the boy grows should try to keep the area clean. Nowadays, in boy babies the foreskin is removed in a few days time after they are born, either for hygienic purposes or for spiritual reason.
Yeast Infection on Mother’s Breast:
If a mother has yeast infection then it can be found as red or white colored patches on the breasts and a purple discoloration of the nipples. An infected mother feel very painful when breast feeding. Doctors should also be careful when prescribing antibiotics for the mother while treating this infection as it may pass through to the baby. Mothers can keep this infection away by eating yogurts which are rich in good bacteria or microbes and avoiding foods containing yeast.
At times small babies who are breast fed get this type of infection of yeast in their mouth which is called as thrush. These can be seen inside the mouth as small white coloured patches or on the inner portion of their cheeks or on the roof of the mouth. This will be usually painless but will cause a sort of irritation in the baby’s mouth and the baby will refuse to put himself to the breast. This yeast infection may be contracted from a mother if she has it in her breast. So it is better to treat both mother and the baby in such cases.
