A Practical Guide for Prevention of Nappy Rashes:
We don’t know what the actual causes of nappy rashes in babies are. By reading the following we can easily understand the cause and the ways to prevent them.
  1. The sensitive skin of the baby gets irritated when it continuously has contact with its urine or bowels in their nappy which forms ammonia which is harmful to their skin.
  2. Baby skins are also sensitive to reaction by chemicals like cologne, detergents, soaps or         wipes.
  3. Stomach generates more acid or alkaline when the babies are weaning or teething which comes out in urine of a baby causing more irritation to them.
  4. Also the oils that are naturally present in the skin of the baby and beneficial bacteria are wiped away when the baby’s bottom is cleaned with nappy for hygienic purposes and causes rash.
  5. Some babies may be prone to persistent rashes due to fungal infection.
The following points are some of the guidelines to parents to follow to avoid nappy rashes in babies.
  1. The disposable nappies that are available in today’s modern world are made of absorbents, but it should not be kept for a long time, as it may get soiled because of urine or other excretory materials. Every now and then it should be checked.

  1.  Along with clothe nappies a liner can be used which is helpful in keeping the dampness away from the skin. Now-a-days liners that are disposable are available in the market. You can use them or if you feel they are a bit costly then you can go for reusable materials that are available and cut them into rectangular pieces such that they fit between the nappy and the bottom of the baby.

  1. Leave your baby some time nappy free. These help the skin of the baby to be dry and free from unwanted rashes.

  1. Give hand to different detergents or nappy washes free from perfumes that are available in the market. And also avoid using adult wipes which contains alcohol in it. This alcohol content causes rashes on the sensitive skin of the baby.

  1. At times you can just give wash with warm water. Babies just don’t need any scented cleaning.

  1. The over pants which are water proof should allow air to flow in freely.

  1.  Nappy creams can be used which acts as an obstruction between the skin of the baby and urine to get into contact.

These are the points which should be followed to avoid nappy rashes on soft baby skin.
